Book blogger, literary reviewer, promoter of Belarusian literature, master of philological sciences, is writing a dissertation on modern Belarusian literature.
Runs a book blog on Instagram and the BelLit Telegram channel, “so that even more people know about Belarusian literature.” The BelLit channel covers not only Belarusian literature and the Belarusian book publishing industry but also works translated into Belarusian.
Nasta Karnackaja and publisher Andrej Januškievič were arrested in a new bookstore. On May 16, 2022, the Januskievic Publishing House opened Knihauka Bookstore in Minsk. State propagandists Lyudmila Gladka from SB. Belarus Today and Ryhor Azaronak from STB asked provocative questions and accused the bookstore of “extreme nationalism.” The propagandists were followed by militia officers who conducted a search. As a result, 200 books were confiscated, and 15 of them were taken away “for examination.”
On May 17, Nasta Karnackaja was sentenced to 13 days of administrative arrest under Art. 19.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (minor hooliganism), which is widely used for politically motivated arrests.
On June 12, Nasta was released from the Akrescina Detention Center where she had spent 23 days.
She left Belarus in 2022.
