Anthology preview

We are pleased to share a preview of the anthology created within the PEN project “verse X change”, which brought together Belarusian, Danish and Swedish poets in a series of translation workshops.

During the project, writers translated each other’s poems without necessarily knowing the source language. Instead, the translations grew out of conversation, attentive reading and mutual exchange. The anthology brings together texts about exile, protest, loss and hope, and reflects a unique form of literary collaboration and solidarity at a time when many Belarusian writers continue to face exile, censorship and persecution.

The preview offers readers a glimpse into the anthology and the voices of the participating authors. Some pages have been intentionally omitted from this preview. This preview is shared for informational and promotional purposes only. We kindly ask you not to reproduce or distribute the anthology without permission, as all texts are protected by copyright.
For comfortable reading, please open the preview in full-screen mode.

The anthology includes poems and translations by KB, Darya Bialkevich, Julia Cimafiejeva, Cecilie Rönnow Egerup, Jon Aagaard Gao, Ylva Gripfelt, Jonas Gren, Bereket Hailemariam, Siarhiej Kalenda, Christine Kærulv, Hanna Rajs, Yana Sanko, Hanna Shakel, Ilya Sinitsa, Kseniya Stasiukevich, Katinka Bukdahl Søby, Hrozya Vicík and Joakim Vilandt.

Mentors: Lotte Jansen, Harald Hartvig Jepsen, Andrej Khadanovich, Dmitri Plax and Tine Roesen.

The anthology was created by PEN Belarus, PEN Denmark and PEN Sweden with support from the Nordic Council of Ministers.
